HONOLULU — Walgreens recently opened its first flagship store in Hawaii, a 35,576-square-foot, two-story outlet in this city’s popular Ala Moana shopping district.

Walgreens recently opened its first flagship store in Hawaii, a 35,576-square-foot, two-story outlet in this city’s popular Ala Moana shopping district.

The new store, which opened on February 21, is Walgreens’ 15th flagship store. It is also Walgreens’ 18th store in Hawaii.

"We are very excited to open a Walgreens flagship store in the beautiful city of Honolulu," Roberto Valencia, corporate operations vice president at Walgreens, said in a statement. "The store will serve as one of America’s most loved pharmacy-led health, well-being and beauty destinations."

Besides reflecting the retailer’s Well Experience format, the new store is designed to incorporate elements of traditional Hawaiian architecture and embrace aspects of the natural landscape. Reflecting Honolulu’s status as a tourist destination, the store’s merchandise mix includes a wide assortment of souvenirs, apparel and local offerings.
