Walmart, Argus team on preferred pharmacy network

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Walmart and Argus Health Systems Inc. have entered a preferred pharmacy network arrangement.

Walmart and Argus Health Systems Inc. have entered a preferred pharmacy network arrangement.

Argus said Thursday that the preferred network approach coordinates efforts by the pharmacy benefits administrator and Walmart to provide the lowest prescription benefit cost to Argus customers.

The Argus-Walmart arrangement can be used for commercial, Medicaid and Medicare networks, according to Argus.

"With results based on a cost analysis of pricing currently in effect, we see a potential cost savings to our customers of more than 2% in the preferred network over an open network," Jonathan Boehm, president and chief executive officer of Argus Health Systems. "When using the preferred network approach, there is also an additional 2% savings potential, for an estimated total savings of more than 4%."
