Walmart+ expands entertainment perks with Peacock partnership

“By offering the ability to switch between two top-tier video streaming services, we’re empowering our members to customize their entertainment experience and enjoy significant savings.”

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart is giving its Walmart+ members more flexibility and value by adding Peacock to its video streaming options and introducing a new benefit, Video Streaming Choice. Beginning September 15, members can select either Paramount+ Essential or Peacock Premium’s ad-supported plan at no additional cost, with the ability to switch between services every 90 days.

The move builds on Walmart+’s rapid growth since its 2020 launch. Originally introduced with three core benefits, the $98-per-year subscription now offers a dozen perks, including free same-day grocery and prescription delivery, free shipping with no order minimum, expanded gas discounts, and unlimited 5% cashback through the new OnePay CashRewards Credit Card.

“The additional option of Peacock Premium adds even more value and more choice to our membership, without raising the price,” said Deepak Maini, senior vice president of Walmart+. “By offering the ability to switch between two top-tier video streaming services, we’re empowering our members to customize their entertainment experience and enjoy significant savings.”

The enhanced benefit positions Walmart+ as one of the few retail-driven memberships with customizable entertainment. Paramount+ offers franchises such as NCIS: Tony & ZivaStar Trek: Strange New WorldsTulsa King, and live sports, while Peacock delivers Sunday Night Football, the upcoming NBA season, Emmy-winning reality shows like The Traitors, and Spanish-language content via the Telemundo Hub.

“This expanded partnership strengthens our collaboration across the NBCUniversal enterprise with Walmart and gives Walmart+ members seamless access to the wide variety of Peacock’s entertainment offering,” said Matt Schnaars, president of platform distribution and partnerships at NBCUniversal.

Ray Hopkins, president of U.S. distribution at Paramount, emphasized the momentum built over the past two years: “Our partnership with Walmart has been a tremendous success in delivering Paramount+ as the first premium entertainment streaming service benefit for Walmart+ members. We're thrilled to celebrate this milestone anniversary with the extension of our partnership.”

The announcement comes as Walmart+ celebrates its fifth anniversary. With a growing roster of benefits designed to match consumer needs, the retailer says more innovations are in store.
