BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart has tapped William White, who has been serving as senior vice president of marketing at Target Corp., to be its new chief marketing officer.
The CMO position at Walmart has been vacant since Barbara Messing left the company last August.
White’s appointment was announced in an email to employees from Walmart executive vice president and chief customer officer Janey Whiteside.
“William is a customer-centric, innovative marketer and is a passionate leader who loves to build and nurture teams,” Whiteside wrote. “I am so excited to see him join the Walmart family and drive us forward.”
White, who will report to Whiteside, had been with Target since 2013. Before that he was with Coca-Cola Co.
