BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart has made changes to the management of its U.S. stores division, according to published reports.
Walmart has made changes to the management of its U.S. stores division, according to published reports.
Mike Moore, who last year took over as executive vice president of Walmart’s Neighborhood Markets division, has been named executive vice president of the much larger Supercenter division. Walmart operates more than 3,400 Supercenters, compared with just over 600 Neighborhood Markets.
Taking over as executive vice president of the growing Neighborhood Market division is Julie Murphy, who had been chief executive officer of Walmart’s Western division.
Walmart is also simplifying its leadership structure, eliminating a layer of management.
Murphy’s previous post overseeing Walmart’s Western Division will not be filled, nor will the post of executive vice president of Walmart’s Eastern division, which had been filled by Joaquin Gonzalez Varela, who is retiring. Instead all U.S. stores will report directly to chief operating officer Judith McKenna.
In another executive change, Walmart Realty executive vice president Pam Kohn has left the company. Taking her post is J.P. Suarez, who previously served as senior vice president of real estate strategy. He will report to McKenna.
