BENTONVILLE, Ark. — As families gear up for a new school year, Walmart is aiming to make back-to-school shopping faster, cheaper and more convenient than ever. With 70% of its customers planning to spend more time searching for discounts this season, the retail giant is responding with a suite of price cuts, digital tools and new product launches — including an entire first-day school outfit, lunch, backpack, and supplies for under $65.
“We understand how important it is for families and teachers to save time and money when preparing for the school year,” said Denise Incandela, executive vice president of Fashion for Walmart U.S. “We’re proud to offer another year of incredible value — including school supplies, must-have styles and essentials.”
According to the company’s 2025 Back-to-School Survey, price sensitivity is top of mind for families, prompting Walmart to slash prices on the 14 most in-demand school supplies. Combined with a $4.98 Wonder Nation backpack, customers can outfit their student with basic supplies for just $16. In total, Walmart is offering:
- Over 200 back-to-school rollbacks,
- More than 100 items under $1,
- 1,000+ items under $5,
- And 2,000+ items under $10.
To simplify the process further, the retailer has expanded its “one-click” digital shopping baskets — allowing parents to buy curated bundles of school supplies, lunches, snacks, or dorm staples online for pickup or delivery, in as little as one hour.
A New Tween Fashion Line Hits Shelves
Just in time for back-to-school ‘fit checks, Walmart is launching Weekend Academy, a new private-label fashion brand for tweens. Most items are priced under $15, with many under $10, offering trendy and age-appropriate apparel that appeals to young shoppers and their parents alike.
A full Weekend Academy outfit, including a boxy graphic tee ($6.48), ruffle skirt ($11.98), and zip-front boots ($22.98), comes in at just $42 — reinforcing Walmart’s value proposition in apparel. The line joins other popular back-to-school fashion brands available at Walmart, including Reebok, U.S. Polo Assn., Justice, and Walmart’s Wonder Nation and No Boundaries labels.
Mealtime, Streamlined
Recognizing that the school year brings daily demands beyond the classroom, Walmart is also introducing one-click lunch and snack baskets starting at under $2 per day. These include everything from classic peanut butter and jelly kits to better-for-you options featuring wraps, fruit, and Walmart’s bettergoods private-label items.
For college students, Walmart offers a ready-made dorm food basket with essentials like yogurt, ramen, and granola bars, also available for fast delivery.
Beyond the Aisles: Health, Tech, and Teacher Tools
Walmart is bolstering its value in categories beyond supplies and fashion. The retailer is promoting back-to-school tech bundles from brands like Apple, Dell, and its onn. house brand, complete with setup and support. College students can also save 50% on Walmart+ memberships, unlocking free delivery, streaming perks, and gas discounts.
Health services — including immunizations, eyewear, and pharmacy delivery — are being promoted as part of Walmart’s holistic approach to back-to-school readiness. And for educators, the updated Classroom Registry now includes an “Explore” feature for discovering everything from science kits to party supplies.
With its nationwide reach and omnichannel capabilities, Walmart is positioning itself as a one-stop shop for families navigating a season of high expectations and tight budgets.
Walmart says the back-to-school savings are available now through September 15 at Walmart.com and via the Walmart app.
