Wawa Foundation opens Breast Cancer Awareness Fund applications

Established in 2021, the Wawa Foundation’s Breast Cancer Awareness Fund is accepting applications throughout October, with awards to be distributed in mid-November

WAWA, Pa. — The Wawa Foundation has opened the application window for nonprofit organizations to apply for grants from its Breast Cancer Awareness Fund, with $200,000 available this year to support programs serving patients, families and communities impacted by breast cancer.

The fund was established in 2021 as one of the foundation’s “key issue” grant programs, designed to direct financial assistance to nonprofits that provide essential support to those undergoing active treatment and to organizations advancing prevention, expanding access to care or conducting research. Applications are being accepted throughout October, recognized nationally as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with awards expected to be distributed in mid-November.

“Since 2021, the Wawa Foundation has proudly awarded grants to organizations in our communities that bring hope, care, and critical resources to those impacted by breast cancer,” said Liz Simeone, president of The Wawa Foundation. “Our associates remain dedicated to fulfilling lives and we’re thrilled to be able to support even more nonprofit organizations this year for this important cause.”

Nonprofits interested in applying can do so at www.thewawafoundation.org by clicking “Apply for Support” on the homepage, beginning the submission process and selecting “Financial Support.” Applicants are asked to indicate that their request is part of the Breast Cancer Awareness Fund. The foundation will review applications during the first two weeks of November, with funding decisions communicated by phone or email. Submitting an application does not guarantee funding.

The Breast Cancer Awareness Fund reflects The Wawa Foundation’s commitment to focus on causes that align with its mission of building stronger communities. Key issue grants typically range from $1,000 to $10,000, although larger awards are also possible. Breast cancer support and research have been a recurring priority for the foundation.

The Wawa Foundation was created in 2014 as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation to extend the charitable giving and community partnerships of Wawa, Inc. Since then, Wawa and the foundation have donated more than $190 million to causes supporting health, hunger and the everyday heroes who serve communities across the company’s operating footprint.

The foundation stated that it remains committed to strengthening local relationships and supporting both regional and national partners, particularly during times of need.
