ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Wegmans Food Markets announced today that over 1,500 new employees have been selected as recipients of its annual Employee Scholarship Program for the 2025–2026 academic year. The company expects to distribute more than $6 million in tuition assistance to new and returning recipients this year.
Since launching the program in 1984, Wegmans has awarded more than $150 million in scholarships to over 48,000 employees, making it one of the most enduring and impactful corporate scholarship programs in the retail sector.
“Our employees create a special experience for both our customers and their coworkers, and it’s so rewarding to see them achieve their goals,” said Colleen Wegman, president and CEO of Wegmans Food Markets. “This scholarship program helps our people to pursue higher education and grow their careers, which benefits both our company and the communities we serve.”
The program offers up to $8,000 over four years for part-time employees and $16,000 for full-time employees. The number of scholarships awarded annually is not capped, and recipients may pursue any accredited field of study. Many awardees continue their careers at Wegmans after graduation.
To be eligible, employees must meet specific work performance standards and a minimum threshold of work hours within a set timeframe.
In recognition of the 2025 scholarship class, all Wegmans locations will host a celebration on Saturday, May 31, at 11 a.m., featuring mini cupcakes and recognition for this year’s honorees.
