ROCHESTER, N.Y. — As graduation season approaches, Wegmans Food Markets is giving customers even more reason to celebrate. Every product in its in‑store bakeries now meets the Wegmans “Food You Feel Good About” (FYFGA) standard—meaning all bakery items are made without artificial colors, dyes, flavors, or unnecessary preservatives.
This milestone marks the culmination of a multi‑year effort that began in 2016, when Wegmans first removed trans fats and high fructose corn syrup from its bakery offerings. Today, the entire department proudly carries the yellow FYFGA banner.
“Our employees are committed to offering our customers the most delicious desserts with only the best ingredients every day,” said Jerritt Branagan, Vice President of Bakery Merchandising. “Wegmans is not only an industry leader when it comes to the use of clean ingredients in bakery products, we have been able to maintain the delicious flavors, perfect textures, and vibrant colors that make our bakeries such a happy place.”
Wegmans Bakery continues to focus on recipes made with simple, familiar ingredients—such as flour, sugar, eggs, butter, and real vanilla—so customers can feel confident about what they’re serving. Natural colors are derived primarily from fruits and vegetables, including turmeric and annatto for yellows and oranges, and beets and red cabbage for reds.
As customers head into a season filled with graduations, weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries, Wegmans’ popular Celebration Cakes remain a highlight. Available in a variety of flavors and customizable designs, these cakes offer a clean‑ingredient option for every milestone moment.
