ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Beginning Wednesday, October 21, Wegmans Food Markets customers can help Feed it Forward during the company’s annual Check Out Hunger scan campaign. Customers can donate $2, $3, $5, or any amount at checkout, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting each store’s local food bank. The campaign runs through Saturday, November 28.
“Year after year, our customers and employees demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to helping their neighbors in need,” said Deana Percassi, Wegmans vice president of Community Engagement and Communications. “Their generosity through our Check Out Hunger campaign has helped raise millions of dollars for our local food banks, and every contribution helps ensure more individuals and families have access to the food they need.”
According to Feeding America, 48 million people in the United States face hunger, including 1 in 5 children. Funds raised through the companywide Check Out Hunger campaign help local food banks provide critical, year-round support to individuals and families facing hunger.
Wegmans has a long history of supporting local food banks through daily food donations and annual scan campaigns.
