ROCHESTER, NY – Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. has once again secured a place among the best workplaces in the country, earning the No. 6 spot on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list. This marks the 27th time Great Place has recognized Wegmans To Work and Fortune magazine for its outstanding workplace culture.

The 100 Best Companies to Work For list is unique in its approach, as it prioritizes employee sentiment and workplace experience. Companies vying for a place on the list undergo a rigorous evaluation based on confidential employee surveys and HR data. Only organizations that consistently score high on the Trust Index Survey, a 60-statement assessment measuring workplace trust and employee experience, earn a place on the list.

“There is nothing more important to us than being the best place to work for our people,” said Colleen Wegman, president and CEO of Wegmans Food Markets. “We’re grateful for the many ways our people live our values and create a welcoming place for everyone across our communities. We celebrate this honor together and thank our people for making Wegmans a special place to work and shop for all.”

The Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list is one of the most competitive workplace rankings in the U.S. To qualify, companies must be Great Place To Work Certified and have a minimum of 1,000 U.S. employees. The selection process involved analyzing feedback from over 1.3 million employees across 8.2 million U.S. workers, ensuring that each recognized company truly fosters a culture of inclusivity, trust, and high performance.

“When people ask about what sets the Best Companies apart from their competitors, it’s one key ingredient: trust,” says Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place To Work. “When employees trust their leaders, their colleagues, and the organization, they become empowered to reach their full potential.”

“High-trust workplaces will be faster to innovate, more resilient in the face of disruption, and more likely to succeed in today’s rapidly changing, AI-integrating world,” he added.

“Fortune is happy to have collaborated with Great Place To Work for the 27th year to recognize the 100 Best Companies to Work For,” says Alyson Shontell, editor-in-chief at Fortune. “In a difficult macro environment with unprecedented challenges, these companies seemed to navigate their organizations toward steady and positive working environments for employees. Congratulations to all who were recognized.”

Wegmans will commemorate this achievement with a special in-store celebration on Saturday, April 6, at 11 a.m. Customers and employees will be treated to mini cupcakes, and Clementine tangerines will be available as a healthy alternative.

In addition to this year’s ranking, Wegmans was also recognized in 2023 as a Best Workplace for Parents, a Best Workplace for Women, and achieved the No. 1 spot on the Fortune Best Workplaces in Retail list. The company was also named to the PEOPLE Companies That Care list.

The Great Place To Work methodology involves extensive employee surveys and workplace culture assessments. To qualify, companies must be Great Place To Work Certified, have at least 1,000 U.S. employees, and meet high standards for employee experience across all demographics. These ranking highlights businesses that consistently prioritize their people, leading to greater retention, innovation, and business success.
