Weis Markets marks remodels of two Pennsylvania stores

The stores feature expanded departments, updated décor, and broader selections designed to meet evolving customer needs.

SUNBURY, Pa. — Weis Markets this week celebrated the completion of remodel projects at two of its Pennsylvania locations, unveiling expanded departments, updated décor, and broader selections designed to meet evolving customer needs.

The grocer, which operates 200 stores across the Mid-Atlantic, announced upgrades at its Pen Argyl and Lancaster stores on September 2. Both projects emphasized expanded fresh offerings, improved convenience, and energy-efficient refrigeration systems.

At the Pen Argyl store on Blue Valley Drive, the remodel introduced a market-style produce department, upgraded exterior, and expanded meat and seafood cases. The deli and food service area now features a broader variety of prepared meals, part of Weis’ effort to expand its “meals to go” selections. The store also received a refreshed interior design and additional variety throughout its grocery aisles.

“We’ve finished our work and are ready to celebrate the grand re-opening of our Pen Argyl store,” said Bob Gleeson, Weis Markets’ chief operating officer. “Our newly remodeled store now offers greater convenience and increased variety throughout the store, particularly in deli/food service where we have an expanded selection of meals to go.”

As part of the reopening, the Pen Argyl store team presented community donations to the Slate Belt Regional Police Department, Bangor Elks Club, and Road Trip Animal Rescue.

Meanwhile, at the Lancaster store on Lincoln Highway East, Weis introduced a revamped produce department with an expanded selection of organic and fresh-cut items, an upgraded bakery, and broadened deli and food service offerings. The remodel also included expanded meat and seafood sections, greater variety in grocery assortments, and an increased selection of international foods, reflecting demand from the diverse Lancaster community.

“Our remodeled store now offers greater convenience and more of the fresh, affordable foods customers count on us for,” Gleeson said. “We’ve increased variety throughout the store particularly in produce where we have an expanded selection of organic and fresh-cut produce.”

To mark the Lancaster reopening, Weis employees presented contributions to the Lafayette Fire Company, Water Street Rescue Mission, and East Lampeter Township Police Department.

Founded in 1912, Weis Markets continues to invest in its Mid-Atlantic footprint. The company operates 13 stores in Lancaster County, reinforcing its commitment to serving customers across Pennsylvania with upgraded shopping experiences.
