SUNBURY, Pa. — Jonathan Weis has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Weis Markets. He had been serving as interim CEO since the departure of David Hepfinger in September 2013 and held the position of vice chairman, which he retains, before that.

Jonathan Weis has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Weis Markets. He had been serving as interim CEO since the departure of David Hepfinger in September 2013 and held the position of vice chairman, which he retains, before that.

Weis, who is the son of current chairman Robert Weis, joined the company in 1989. During his 25-year career he has held various positions in the company, including produce merchandising, grocery procurement and store operations. More recently he worked in the chain’s real estate department, serving as vice president of property management and development. He was named vice chairman and corporate secretary in 2004.
