Wendy Wiemers

Vice President, Merchandise Planning and Allocation, Dollar General.

For Wendy Wiemers, one of the most fulfilling aspects of her role as vice president of merchandise planning at Dollar General is seeing the impact of her work, both as a customer and strategist while keeping one priority front and center: protecting the value that customers rely on.

“I can walk into a store and see our team’s impact and strategies on the shelf. Few careers provide that dual lens,” she said.

Wiemers joined Dollar General in 2021 and currently leads the development of short- and long-term financial plans that support merchant vision and customer needs across Dollar General’s footprint of nearly 21,000 stores in 48 states. She also leads cross-functional collaboration with merchants, inventory planning, sourcing and finance to align sales, margin and inventory performance, providing additional insights into broader strategic objectives.

Most recently, Wiemers and her team’s focus on dynamic forecasting, building standardized margin impact tools and collaboration with merchants on product sources are intended to preserve affordability for customers. In an evolving retail landscape, she further credits her team’s adaptability and collaborative spirit with the company’s ability to ensure the products customers want and need are available at affordable prices.

Wiemers also credits Dollar General’s culture of open dialogue. “Dollar General is a place where all voices are heard and that trusts, encourages and invests in employees at every level,” she shared. “Equally rewarding is the opportunity to mentor and develop the team, guide their growth and support their successes.”
