BOISE, Idaho — WinCo Foods has announced that Chief Merchandising Officer Nathan Tucker will become the company’s next chief executive officer, marking only the fourth CEO transition in the grocery retailer’s history.
Tucker will assume the role of president on Jan. 1, 2027, and will work alongside retiring CEO Grant Haag during a planned leadership transition. Tucker will officially succeed Haag as CEO on May 1, 2027.
Haag announced his retirement after nearly eight years leading the employee-owned grocery chain.
Tucker joined WinCo Foods in 2013 as an assistant store manager and has steadily advanced through the organization. During his tenure, he has held leadership positions at the district and division levels before joining the company’s executive leadership team as chief merchandising officer.
According to WinCo spokesperson Noah Fleisher, Tucker brings “a broad understanding of our stores, employee owners and customers to the role.”
“Nathan’s extensive experience across multiple areas of the business, combined with his commitment to WinCo’s employee-owned culture, positions him well to lead the company into its next chapter,” Fleisher said.
Tucker holds an MBA from Boise State University and serves on the board of the Western Association of Food Chains.
WinCo Foods operates as one of the nation’s largest employee-owned grocery retailers, serving customers across multiple western and central states through its network of supermarket locations.
