Winn-Dixie celebrates centennial with throwback pricing, community events and hunger relief

“Reaching 100 years is an extraordinary milestone that belongs to everyone who has been part of Winn-Dixie’s journey – our associates, our customers and the communities we call home.”

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Winn-Dixie is marking its 100th anniversary this month with nostalgic promotions, community celebrations, and a renewed pledge to fight hunger across the Southeast. The grocer, which has been a fixture in the region since 1925, is rolling out special pricing, customer events, and charitable donations to commemorate the milestone.

“Reaching 100 years is an extraordinary milestone that belongs to everyone who has been part of Winn-Dixie’s journey – our associates, our customers and the communities we call home,” said Anthony Hucker, chairman and CEO of Southeastern Grocers, Winn-Dixie’s parent company. “As we celebrate our centennial, we honor our lasting legacy of serving our neighbors with quality and value and look ahead with a renewed commitment to empowering people to feed and enrich our communities as we carry Winn-Dixie into the next century.”

From September 3 through 30, shoppers can take advantage of weekly “throwback pricing” on a range of grocery items, including Winn-Dixie’s private-label staples, Chek Cola, and leading national brands. Savings of up to $100 will be available through digital coupons in the Winn-Dixie Rewards app and online.

The centennial celebration also includes community birthday bashes on September 5 at six stores in Florida and Louisiana. Events will feature live music, giveaways, and birthday cake, with the first 100 customers at each location receiving a mystery gift card valued from $19.25 to $100—a nod to the year of Winn-Dixie’s founding. In Jacksonville, fans can also see a replica of Mark Martin’s iconic #60 Winn-Dixie race car.

In keeping with its longstanding tradition of service, Winn-Dixie is pairing the anniversary festivities with a $200,000 contribution to fight hunger. The donation includes $100,000 to Feeding America and $100,000 in product donations to local communities across its five-state operating area.

Founded in 1925, Winn-Dixie operates grocery and liquor stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
