Yesway names Ray Harrison Chief Marketing and Merchandising Officer

Harrison brings more than two decades of retail and grocery experience.

FT. WORTH, Texas — Yesway has named Ray Harrison as its new chief marketing and merchandising officer, the convenience store operator announced Thursday.

In his new role, Harrison will focus on driving innovation in the company’s merchandising mix, expanding private label offerings, and strengthening the tech stack to support sales and EBITDA growth. He succeeds Derek Gaskins, who left in March to become head of guest experience for BP.

“Ray is an exceptional leader with a proven ability to translate strategic vision into measurable results,” said Tom Trkla, chairman, president and CEO of Yesway. “His deep industry expertise, innovative mindset, and commitment to excellence make him the ideal choice to lead our marketing and merchandising efforts as we continue to grow and evolve.”

Harrison brings more than two decades of retail and grocery experience. He most recently served as Chief Marketing and Merchandising Officer at Cal’s Convenience, where he oversaw programs for more than 500 retail locations, expanded private label growth, and launched the company’s digital loyalty program. Prior to that, he spent over 20 years at Brookshire Grocery Company, where he rose to the position of vice president of category management, merchandising, and shopper marketing, earning multiple industry honors.

“I am eager to support our store teams, strengthen our supplier partnerships, and deliver growth through a sharper, guest-first merchandising strategy,” Harrison said.

Harrison joins Yesway as the company continues to expand in the Southwest and prepares to exit its Iowa and Kansas markets.
