BJ’s Wholesale Club Inc. is adopting a new transportation management solution to help streamline its transportation operations and pare costs.

The warehouse club chain plans to use the RedPrairie Transportation Management System (TMS)  from RedPrairie Corp., an Alpharetta, Ga.-based provider of retail supply-chain solutions.

"We look forward to a continued effort with RedPrairie to improve the management of our transportation," Trevor LaChapelle, vice president and manager of global transportation at BJ’s Wholesale Club, said in a statement. "Their TMS offers us a scalable and flexible solution to support our ongoing needs."

Jeff Desroches, senior vice president and director of logistics at BJ’s, added, "To provide BJ’s members with top-quality, brand-name merchandise at the best possible prices, our supply chain must remain efficient. As part of our overall supply chain strategy, RedPrairie’s Transportation Management System allows us to make better decisions to manage our costs."

Designed as a rapidly deployable solution, the RedPrairie TMS stands to help BJ’s Wholesale Club better monitor carrier performance and shipment activities throughout its supply chain, the technology firm said. The retailer operates more than 190 clubs in 15 states from Maine to Florida.

"We were honored to win BJ’s Wholesale Club’s business and excited about the opportunity to help them to optimize their transportation resources and gain greater visibility into their transportation network," stated RedPrairie senior vice president of retail Noel Goggin. "From procurement and planning to execution and reporting, RedPrairie Transportation Management System will enable BJ’s Wholesale Club to remain efficient and pass on savings to its members."
