CVS and FARE partner on Teal Pumpkin Project® for an inclusive Halloween

The Teal Pumpkin Project urges households to provide non-food treats for trick-or-treaters, ensuring all children—regardless of food allergies—can enjoy the holiday.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — For the fourth consecutive year, CVS Pharmacy is joining forces with Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) as the exclusive retail pharmacy partner of the Teal Pumpkin Project, a nationwide initiative that helps make Halloween safer and more inclusive for children with food allergies.

The Teal Pumpkin Project encourages households to offer non-food treats to trick-or-treaters, helping ensure that every child—regardless of food allergies or intolerances—can enjoy the holiday. This year, CVS Pharmacy is offering more than 60 non-food treat options across over 7,000 stores nationwide, including stickers, glow sticks, and small toys, providing families with a convenient way to participate in the movement.

“One in 13 children in the U.S. lives with a food allergy, and Halloween can often be a difficult time for those families,” said a CVS Pharmacy spokesperson. “Through our continued partnership with FARE, we’re helping make the holiday more inclusive so that all children can safely share in the fun.”

According to FARE, more than 65% of children with food allergies have experienced a negative Halloween due to exposure risks or limited participation. Displaying a teal pumpkin or a free printable sign from FARE signals to families that allergy-friendly treats are available, promoting a sense of belonging and inclusion.

By expanding access to non-food options and raising awareness, CVS Pharmacy and FARE continue to “make healthier happen together,” ensuring that Halloween remains a joyful occasion for all.
