BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Last month marked Donna Morris’ fifth anniversary at Walmart, where she has served as executive vice president and chief people officer since February 2020. In that role, she leads a global people team that supports Walmart’s 2.1 million associates worldwide.
Morris joined Walmart from Adobe, where she worked for nearly 20 years and ultimately served as chief human resources officer and executive vice president of employee experience. That experience was perfect preparation for her current role at Walmart.
In a recent post on LinkedIn, Morris pointed out some of the highlights of her tenure and her vision for the future.
“As a global people team, I’m proud of all we have accomplished over the past five years,” she wrote. “We have focused on four key priority areas: digital, growth, well-being and belonging — with the goal of creating Walmart as a great place to work for our associates, a company known for being an academy of talent with an exceptional people team.”
Looking ahead, Morris defined her team’s goals, which include cementing Walmart’s position as an academy for talent, leading the industry in skills-first hiring and development and demonstrating value in the experiences people bring to and develop at Walmart. The company will continue to leverage GenAI to improve the way associates work and to build a better digital experience for them, as it has done with GenAI tools such as My Assistant and the Me@app. In addition, Walmart will continue to invest in its associates and their well-being and to focus on creating a Walmart for everyone.
