The 40,000-square-foot store will operate daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and it is expected to create over 100 full- and part-time jobs in the local economy. The grand opening celebration will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by store manager Johnathan Heron, a seasoned grocery professional with 15 years of industry experience. “Our team is excited to be a part of the vibrant South Broad community,” said Heron. “Just in time for the holidays, Philadelphia’s newest GIANT has everything customers need to celebrate – we know they’re going to love shopping with us.”

Designed to elevate the urban grocery shopping experience, the South Broad GIANT store promises a modern and inviting atmosphere. Customers will be greeted by an expansive market-inspired produce section, complete with a wide selection of organic products. Shoppers can also explore fresh meat and seafood options, a fully stocked bakery, and a service deli featuring pre-sliced meats and cheeses.

The store’s offerings include a comprehensive beer and wine section, complete with unique selections like wine slushies and ready-to-drink cocktails. For those looking for quick meal solutions, the hot food bar will feature smoked and barbeque meats, freshly prepared sushi from an in-house chef, and pre-packaged salads. A specialty cheese case and floral department round out the in-store experience, catering to diverse customer needs.

Reflecting the needs of urban shoppers, the store offers access to an underground parking garage and a designated drop-off loop for customers using taxi or rideshare services.

“Our new South Broad store builds on our commitment to delivering convenience, value, and quality to Philadelphia residents,” GIANT president John Ruane said. “We’re proud to continue serving this community with the fresh products and friendly service that our customers have come to expect.”

The first 150 customers through the doors on December 13 will be greeted with a reusable GIANT shopping bag filled with product samples and exclusive savings, adding to the excitement of the store’s debut. The company anticipates strong community engagement as it continues to deepen its presence in the region.

GIANT operates more than 190 stores across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. With a workforce of over 35,000 team members, the company is part of Ahold Delhaize USA.
