AUSTIN — Each year, thousands of H‑E‑B Partners honor and celebrate first responders across Texas for their unyielding service to our communities as part of the company’s annual H‑E‑B Helping Heroes program.
This year, more than 400 H‑E‑B stores and work locations adopted over 1,300 fire, law enforcement, and EMS stations statewide. On the days leading up to and on September 11, more than 3,000 Partners delivered meals, participated in service projects, and personally thanked the brave Texans who help keep our communities safe. Additionally, H‑E‑B provided adopted stations with meals, snacks, pantry items, and other gifts for emergency personnel to enjoy.
“Each year, H-E-B Helping Heroes gives our Partners an opportunity to thank the courageous first responders who selflessly serve our communities,” said Winell Herron, H‑E‑B Senior Vice President of Public Affairs, Diversity and Environmental Affairs. “For more than two decades, this program has been an important part of our long-standing, year-round commitment to support emergency personnel across the state.”
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, H-E-B donated a total of $150,000 to nonprofits supporting first responders across Texas. This gift is part of H-E-B’s annual commitment totaling over $700,000 in support of first responder initiatives throughout the state.
This initiative recognizes September 11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance, paying tribute to those who risked and lost their lives during the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks.
For more than two decades, H‑E‑B Partners have come together for this annual program, an important part of H‑E‑B’s ongoing support for emergency personnel in the more than 300 communities the company serves.
