ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Ingles Markets says it is steadily bouncing back after Hurricane Helene disrupted its operations. Out of 198 Ingles stores, 194 are now open, with only four stores temporarily closed due to flood and wind damage. Ingles expects these affected locations to resume service within the next three to nine months as repairs progress.
The company’s distribution center, initially impacted by the hurricane, is now fully operational, ensuring steady supply across its network of stores. Ingles has estimated that the financial toll from inventory and property losses will range between $35 million and $55 million, with anticipated insurance reimbursements covering $10 million to $15 million of these costs.
“Our thoughts are with everyone impacted in our communities who lost lives, loved ones, homes, and access to basic necessities,” Ingles stated, expressing gratitude for the resilience shown by its associates and the community. “We are proud to see our hard-working associates come together with neighbors and local resources to continue the Ingles commitment of serving our customers and communities.”
Headquartered in Asheville, North Carolina, Ingles Markets operates in six southeastern states and is known for its neighborhood supermarkets and commitment to local communities. As normalcy returns, Ingles is determined to continue its mission of serving these communities through challenging times.
