Rael partners with TowerBrook to accelerate growth

TowerBrook will support the women’s wellness brand as it expands across channels and international markets.

NEW YORK — Rael is entering its next phase of growth with a strategic investment from TowerBrook Capital Partners, giving the women’s wellness brand additional backing to expand its omnichannel business and reach more consumers globally.

Terms of the investment were not disclosed.

Founded in 2017 by Korean American entrepreneurs Yanghee Paik, Aness An and Binna Won, Rael began with period care and has since expanded into feminine care, skincare and hormonal wellness. The Los Angeles-based company, which also maintains an office in Seoul, has built its business around what it calls holistic cycle care, combining Korean innovation with products designed to address women’s changing needs throughout their lives.

Rael products are now sold in more than 40,000 retail locations across the United States and Korea. Its U.S. retail partners include Target, Walmart, CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens and Ulta Beauty, giving the brand a presence across mass retail, drugstores and specialty beauty channels.

The footprint represents a substantial expansion for the company. In 2025, Rael products were available in more than 20,000 U.S. retail locations as the brand accelerated distribution through major retailers, including expanded placements at Walmart, Walgreens and Ulta Beauty.

“Rael extends TowerBrook's track record of investing behind products and services that help consumers live healthier lives and builds on the firm's experience scaling emerging brands through periods of transformational growth,” said Michael Recht, managing director at TowerBrook. “Rael’s products have distinct positioning in women’s wellness, and we are excited to build upon the unique trust the brand has developed with consumers.”

Rael said the partnership will support further channel expansion, continued product innovation, and broader international distribution while helping the company advance consumer education on holistic cycle care.

“We started Rael because we believed women deserved better choices in period care, and that belief led us to pioneer holistic cycle care,” said Paik, chief executive officer and co-founder of Rael. “From our first conversation, TowerBrook understood the impact of our mission and believed in it as deeply as we do. Their track record of scaling founder-led brands while preserving their uniqueness makes them the ideal partner as we aim to serve more women around the world.”

The TowerBrook deal follows several prior rounds of outside investment in Rael. The company raised $35 million in a 2022 Series B round led by Colopl Next and Signite Partners, bringing its total funding to $59 million at the time. Previous investors have included Unilever Ventures and Mirae Asset.

As part of the new partnership, John Replogle has been appointed chair of Rael’s board and will work with Paik and the company’s leadership team. Replogle has experience scaling consumer brands, having served as chief executive officer of Burt’s Bees and Seventh Generation. He also led Unilever’s North American skin care business.

“Rael has built a truly differentiated brand by combining thoughtful innovation with a deep understanding of women’s evolving health and wellness needs,” said Nancy Jin, managing director at TowerBrook. “We share Yanghee’s conviction that women deserve clean and effective cycle care products that help them feel supported and confident across every stage of life. We are partnering with this team to build the company that leads that category.”

TowerBrook said its investment was backed by co-investors. Jefferies served as financial adviser to Rael, while Sidley Austin served as the company’s legal adviser. Benesch served as TowerBrook’s legal adviser.
