MINNEAPOLIS — Target is lowering prices on nearly 2,000 home, apparel and accessories products as the retailer looks to emphasize value ahead of the holiday shopping season.
The latest reductions follow more than 10,000 price cuts Target has made over the past year. The company said the new round covers apparel, footwear and home products, with some items priced 20% or more below last year's levels.
“Guests are looking for great products at an incredible value, and that’s an important part of what we aim to deliver every day,” said Cara Sylvester, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer at Target. “By continuing to lower prices across our assortment, we’re making it even easier for busy families to create moments of joy this fall with the style, design and exceptional value they can only find at Target.”
In apparel and footwear, women’s long-sleeve T-shirts are now priced at $12, down from $15. The average price of women’s shoes has fallen to $35, down from $40 last year, with nearly 70% of new items priced below comparable styles from a year ago. The average price of children’s rain and winter boots is down about 15%.
Target has also refreshed its bedding assortment, with prices averaging 15% lower. Threshold queen comforters are now $69, down from $89, while Room Essentials queen comforters have dropped to $40, down from $50. Threshold performance queen sheets are now $50, down from $55.
The reductions come as retailers prepare for the holiday shopping season and consumers continue to focus on value. Target will also hold its Target Circle Deal Days on Oct. 6 and 7, offering additional promotions to members of its free loyalty program.
