The discount store giant said it plans to open four Target Clinics in northern Virginia and another four retail health clinics in North Carolina on July 29, 2012.
Currently under construction, the clinics are inside Target stores in Fairfax, Falls Church, Gainesville and Leesburg, Va., and in Apex, Durham and Wake Forest, N.C.
In addition to the new openings in Virginia and North Carolina, Target Clinic will also expand in Illinois and Minnesota, according to Target.
Target Clinic now has 44 locations in Minnesota, Maryland, Illinois and Florida. By the end of October, there will be 54 Target Clinics in six states, the company said.
The new Target Clinics "will provide convenient access to health care products and medical expertise," Jose Barra, senior vice president of health and beauty at Target, said in a statement. "With our new Target Clinic locations, guests will now be able to conveniently seek medical treatment for minor illnesses, fill a prescription at Target Pharmacy and shop for other wellness needs, all during the same shopping trip."
Last summer Target opened seven new clinics, including three in the Minneapolis-St. Paul market, three in the Chicago area and one in the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., area, raising the total number of Target Clinics to 44. More than half of the locations are in Minnesota.
Target operates 1,764 discount stores nationwide, and over 1,600 of the stores have pharmacies.
