MELVILLE,N.Y. — Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace is continuing its expansion across Long Island, with two new stores set to open this year as part of its steady East Coast growth strategy.
The Italian specialty grocer will open a new location in Greenvale on Aug. 14 and plans to launch a second store in Levittown during the fourth quarter, according to co-founder and CEO Carl DelPrete.
The Greenvale store will occupy a 52,000-square-foot former Stop & Shop site at Wheatley Plaza, while the Levittown location will fill a 50,000-square-foot space previously occupied by King Kullen. Both supermarkets closed in October 2024.
Uncle Giuseppe’s currently operates 12 stores across New York and New Jersey, including eight on Long Island. The two additions will bring the retailer’s store count to 14 by the end of 2026.
“Our growth strategy is going to be pretty consistent,” DelPrete told Newsday. “We’re looking at opening at least two stores a year, but it all really depends on us finding the correct market and the right space.”
The new stores will feature the chain’s signature offerings, including fresh mozzarella made daily, house-made pasta, full-service butcher and seafood departments, scratch bakeries, prepared foods, cafes, delis, pizzerias and salad bars. Each location is expected to employ about 250 full- and part-time workers.
