SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — Vallarta Supermarkets has promoted longtime executive Jose Manuel Cordero to chief of stores, elevating a 35‑year company veteran whose career spans nearly every facet of store operations.

Cordero joined Vallarta at age 16 as a courtesy clerk and chicharronero, and has since held a wide range of roles across the organization, including meat dispatcher, meat cutter, produce and grocery clerk, cashier, scan coordinator, assistant store director, store director, district manager, lead district manager and vice president of operations.
His extensive operational experience across departments has provided a deep understanding of store performance and customer service, positioning him to help lead the company’s next phase of growth.
Known internally for his leadership and focus on team development, Cordero has played a key role in building strong store teams and mentoring future leaders. His ability to connect with employees and reinforce company culture has made a lasting impact throughout the organization.
Cordero’s progression from entry-level associate to a C-suite role underscores Vallarta’s emphasis on internal advancement and leadership development.
In his new role, he will oversee store operations and continue to support the company’s strategic direction while reinforcing the culture and values that have driven Vallarta’s success.
