Walmart Data Ventures launches Scintilla In-Store platform

The platform consolidates tools, inventory data, metrics, and tasks into one mobile app for field reps.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart Data Ventures has launched Scintilla In-Store, a platform created to connect real-time data with third-party retail execution at the store level, aiming to reduce out-of-stocks and enhance on-shelf performance.

The platform, the newest addition to Walmart’s Scintilla portfolio, consolidates essential tools, live inventory data, actionable metrics, and supplier-assigned tasks into a single mobile app for field representatives. By integrating store-level visibility with execution workflows, Scintilla In-Store is designed to help suppliers address inventory gaps, ensure planogram compliance, and boost omni-channel readiness.

Scintilla In-Store expands Walmart’s broader Scintilla ecosystem, the retailer’s first-party insights platform that transforms detailed operational data into supplier-facing intelligence. Although Scintilla and Scintilla In-Store function as separate platforms, they share a common goal of turning data into measurable retail results.

The app was previously called Volt, following Walmart’s 2022 acquisition of Volt Systems. The rebranded platform gives field teams access to the same item and modular data used by store associates, allowing representatives to identify low-stock items, fix shelf discrepancies, and reconcile inventory shifts during busy periods.

“Scintilla In-Store is redefining our operations in Walmart stores,” said Pamela Stewart, North America Chief Customer Officer, Retail, at The Coca-Cola Company. “The enhanced app experience provides real-time inventory visibility and equips our representatives with advanced tools, enabling them to work more efficiently and make data-driven decisions during every store visit.”

Walmart Data Ventures announced that future updates will feature AI-based task prioritization and more integration across in-store systems, further automating workflows and enhancing collaboration between suppliers and store teams.

The launch demonstrates Walmart’s ongoing investment in tech-enabled retail operations as it aims to maintain consistent product availability across stores, e-commerce, and mobile channels.
