Walmart opens Sam's Club Southeast distribution hub

The new facility is poised to bolster the retail giant’s regional operations significantly and will serve 18 Sam’s Club locations.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A major new addition to Jacksonville’s growing logistics landscape was officially unveiled today as Walmart celebrated the grand opening of a sprawling 1-million-square-foot Sam's Club distribution center on Zoo Parkway. Associates, local officials, and community members celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community grants.

The new facility is poised to bolster the retail giant’s regional operations significantly. It will serve 18 Sam’s Club locations throughout Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina and support seven clubs in Puerto Rico. Just 10 minutes from the Port of Jacksonville, the distribution center also acts as a key hub for imported goods destined for four additional distribution centers across the Southeast.

“Jacksonville is continuing to build its reputation as a logistics hub and the place to be to reach customers throughout the Southeast,” JAXUSA Partnership President Aundra Wallace said. “We appreciate Walmart investing in our region and look forward to the company’s success here.”

Frank Herrera, General Manager of the facility, emphasized the broader impact of the new operation. “We’re proud to create a new slate of jobs in our community. Each position brings a pathway for opportunity at Walmart and Sam’s Club,” he said. “Today’s ribbon cutting is a celebration of our commitment to our associates, our community and our future.”

Employees at the facility will have access to Walmart’s comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and education benefits through the Live Better U program, which offers company-paid college degrees and skills certificates.

As part of the grand opening, the company reinforced its commitment to the Jacksonville community by awarding $5,000 grants to Keep Jacksonville Beautiful and the Police Athletic League of Jacksonville. In fiscal year 2024 alone, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and the Walmart Foundation donated more than $122 million in product donations and grants to various local organizations throughout Florida.
