CHICAGO – Health screening kiosk supplier higi announced on Wednesday an initiative with Wegmans Food Markets Inc. to allow the grocer’s customers and employees to link their health data directly to the chain’s pharmacy management system.
The service, which uses McKesson’s EnterpriseRx, will enable Wegmans pharmacists to better help consumers understand their measurements, review health data trends, and connect with appropriate care.
“Consumers want a more convenient, cheaper, and easier way to connect to their health care data and share it with their care providers,” said higi CEO Jeff Bennett. “By being consumer-centric and meeting the consumer where they are, higi and Wegmans together are empowering deeper consumer engagement to drive improved adherence and deliver better health.”
Across the industry, consumers are demanding personalized, immediate insights and suggested actions based on their health data, and seeking opportunities to more conveniently share the data with trusted providers. Wegmans has championed technology to deliver better care to consumers and engage them in their health. Now, through the McKesson Clinical Programs Solution (CPS) integration with higi, its consumers can immediately and securely share collected data, including blood pressure, pulse, weight, and BMI, and work with the chain’s pharmacy team to better understand and act on their data.
McKesson CPS operates as part of the pharmacy management system, integrating with pharmacy work flows to provide actionable notifications in real time. Biometric data collected by higi is incorporated into the CPS platform, allowing pharmacists to immediately react to each consumer’s health concerns, particularly those at risk for hypertension. Having access to this data enables Wegmans and its pharmacists to further the move toward proactive and convenient retail based care.
