Aldi US removes DEI language from careers page

While Aldi appears to retain a DEI team, the extent of its current programming remains unclear.

Table of Contents

Aldi US has quietly removed all references to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) from its careers website. The change, made earlier this month and reported by HR Brew, eliminates a section titled “Aldinclusive,” which previously highlighted the company’s DEI initiatives, including employee inclusion groups, DEI education, internships for diverse students, and a $5.5 million DEI Philanthropic Fund.

Target hit with national boycott call for dropping DEI initiatives
Activists called on civil rights organizations, including the NAACP and the Urban League, to stand against Target’s decision.

The removed section also emphasized Aldi’s long-standing support for organizations like the United Negro College Fund and its commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace. Now, any mention of DEI initiatives automatically redirects to other corporate pages. Notably, Aldi’s UK, Ireland, and Australia careers websites still prominently feature DEI programs.

An employee on Reddit noted that DEI information is now only accessible internally via the company’s employee portal. While Aldi appears to retain a DEI team, the extent of its current programming remains unclear.

Some boycott advocates suggest shopping from Black-owned businesses, but founders emphasize reaching millions of weekly Target shoppers.
