COPPELL, Texas — Bed Bath & Beyond and The Container Store have opened their first co-branded location, in Fort Worth, Texas, with a store aiming to deliver “a more complete home destination that combines organization, essentials, décor and services in one convenient shopping experience.”
“This is an exciting step forward as we continue bringing our Everything Home vision to life,” Amy Sullivan, president, Bed Bath & Beyond Inc., said in a press release announcing the May 16 store opening. “By bringing together the strengths of these two iconic brands, we’re creating a more connected shopping experience that combines inspiration, organization, solutions and value for customers across every room in the home.”
Shoppers can browse by room: core departments feature The Container Store’s kitchen, bath and closet, small appliances, and textiles as well as Bed Bath & Beyond offerings in dining, bedding and curtains. The store aims to reintroduce familiar and beloved elements of Bed Bath & Beyond offering a modern take on a familiar shopping experience.
In the coming months, Bed Bath & Beyond products will roll out in a phased approach across The Container Store’s 98 locations nationwide, as well as online at containerstore.com. Over time, the company expects to operate more than 300 stores across multiple formats, including co-branded stores, neighborhood formats, Bed Bath & Beyond Seasonal Living, and buybuy BABY locations.
The new store is the latest development in a complex restructuring for Utah-based Bed Bath & Beyond, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April 2023 and shut all 365 of its stores. Shortly after the bankruptcy, Overstock.com acquired Bed Bath & Beyond’s intellectual property, changed its name to Beyond Inc., and sold BB&B merchandise online and at more than 100 Container Store locations.
Bed Bath & Beyond’s comeback is being directed by Marcus Lemonis, who began acquiring Beyond shares in 2024 and was subsequently named chairman and CEO. Beyond Inc. changed its corporate name last summer to Bed Bath and Beyond Inc. and installed Lemonis as executive chairman and CEO in January.
The company has been acquiring assets and forging partnerships as it develops an “everything home” platform across omnichannel retail and home services that integrates the company across the full lifecycle of homeownership – from design and product selection to installation and financing.
The company has signed letters to intent to buy The Container Store, known for its custom storage systems, and F9 Brands, which owns and operates Cabinets To Go, Lumber Liquidators, Gracious Home / Thos. Baker, and Southwind Building Products.
Earlier initiatives included deals to open smaller-format stores through third-party operators. Bed Bath & Beyond recently closed on an agreement to buy The Brand House Collective (formerly Kirkland’s Home), which opened the inaugural Bed Bath & Beyond Home store last August in Nashville, Tenn.
