LOS ANGELES — Pacific Shore Holdings Inc. said its dietary supplement lip balms are drawing interest and shelf space from major chain retailers.

Pacific Shore Holdings Inc. said its dietary supplement lip balms are drawing interest and shelf space from major chain retailers.

The company said it met with such chains as Walgreens, Hy-Vee, Winn-Dixie and Rexall at last week’s National Association of Chain Drug Stores Marketplace Conference in San Diego about its Burner Balm fat-burning dietary energy lip balm and Energy-X energy-boosting lip balm products.

"Over the past week, we have had meetings with major retailers and chain stores who want to put our product on their shelves both domestic and internationally," Pacific Shore president and chief executive Matthew Mills said in a statement. "The show has been a great success for us as we are now in the process of negotiating store placement and continuing dialog with multiple retailers.

Burner Balm and Energy-X Lip Balm are designed to provide a convenient vehicle for delivering dietary supplements and energy aids to individuals in a manner that coincides with the normal daily routine of lip balm users, according to Pacific Shore. In addition, such a delivery scheme offers a better opportunity for success rather than remembering to take capsules or other inconvenient expensive forms of dietary supplements, the company added.

"It was very exciting to see the level of interest in our products coming from such a wide variety of retailers," lead product developer Dr. Allan Kurtz commented about the company’s reception at NACDS Marketplace. "We met with companies in food, pharmacy, mass and club [retail channels] such as Hy-Vee, Rexall Canada, Winn-Dixie, Walgreens and Army/Air Force exchange stores."

According to the products’ Web sites, users absorb the dietary supplement extracts topically through the many blood vessels in the mucous membrane of the lips. "This combined with a slight continuous ingestion of the key dietary supplement extracts, when used as directed, allows all of the dietary ingredients to be absorbed faster and steadier into the bloodstream than ingesting pills or powder supplements," the company stated on the sites.

In a recent double blind placebo controlled clinical trial, conducted over a 12-week period on over 100 patients, the Burner Balm patient group lost on average seven to nine pounds, Pacific Shore reported. "Many of the patients also commented that meal portions shrank considerably while using the product and most were able to cut out snacking all together," stated Dr. David Toomey, lead investigator who has orchestrated a multitude of clinical trials for some of the top pharmaceutical manufacturers in the United States.
