Crossmark has named Duncan Mac Naughton, former executive vice president and chief merchandising officer of Walmart U.S., to its board of directors.

Mac Naughton served as Walmart U.S. executive vice president and CMO until November 2014, and he oversaw all merchandise categories across more than 3,700 stores in the U.S. business. Under his leadership, the company intensified its shopper-centric focus through initiatives that improved on-shelf availability of products, as well as a more collaborative joint business planning process with suppliers.

Previously he served as executive vice president of marketing and merchandising at Supervalu Inc., and he also held executive leadership positions at the New Albertsons Inc. and H-E-B Grocery Co. Prior to H-E-B, he spent 13 years with Kraft Foods, where he demonstrated leadership in key areas such as category sales management and planning, sales strategy, brand and product development, trade planning, and strategic food marketing and business planning.

"We’re privileged to have Duncan join the Crossmark board, bringing extraordinary retail industry experience and leadership from both a manufacturer and retailer perspective," said Crossmark chief executive officer Steve Schuckenbrock. "His insight and expertise will be highly valued as our company continues to drive innovation and build unique capabilities centered around consumer purchase behavior, enabling us to deliver smarter solutions for our clients and customers to grow their businesses faster."

Mac Naughton stated, "I have always respected the Crossmark organization. The people at all levels have consistently demonstrated leadership, collaboration and excellence in driving our industry forward. I’m excited to work with the team in helping the company increase shareholder value by driving continued growth for its clients and customers."
