DoorDash adds major retailers to delivery lineup

DoorDash is broadening its retail delivery business with three major additions ahead of the back-to-school season.

SAN FRANCISCO — DoorDash is expanding its retail delivery business by adding Barnes & Noble, Carter’s and Kohl’s to its marketplace, giving consumers more options for on-demand back-to-school shopping.

The new partnerships expand DoorDash’s assortment to include books, apparel, school supplies, children’s essentials, and home goods. The company said more than half a million retail products are now eligible for delivery in under an hour across categories including apparel, books, baby and kids, and household goods.

Barnes & Noble marks DoorDash’s first large-scale books offering. Consumers can order required reading, reference books, study guides, workbooks, notebooks, planners, and other school supplies from participating local stores. The assortment also includes toys, games, stationery, gifts, movies, and music.

Carter’s becomes DoorDash’s largest selection of children’s apparel and essentials, offering families on-demand access to clothing and other products during the back-to-school season.

The addition of Kohl’s gives DoorDash access to merchandise from more than 1,100 stores nationwide, including apparel, footwear and dorm room essentials. DoorDash said the partnership marks its first department store offering, spanning apparel and home goods.

“Back-to-school is one of those seasons where there’s just no time to plan every trip. As a dad, I know how this goes. It’s the sports uniform you realize is missing the night before practice, or the notebook nobody remembers until they’re already out the door,” said Mike Goldblatt, vice president of enterprise partnerships at DoorDash. “Bringing Barnes & Noble, Carter’s, and Kohl’s onto DoorDash means parents can get what they need in minutes instead of making another stop. For our retail partners, it means getting in front of consumers exactly when they need them most.”

The expansion comes as DoorDash continues to expand beyond restaurant delivery into grocery and retail. In the first quarter of 2026, the company said its third-party convenience delivery service reached more than 60% of the U.S. population, with a median delivery time of 30 minutes or less.

DoorDash also said it fulfilled tens of millions of grocery and retail deliveries in under 30 minutes across more than 22,000 ZIP codes during that period.
