H-E-B store includes new features

SAN ANTONIO — H-E-B recently celebrated the opening of a new supermarket in New Braunfels, Texas, on the site of a former H-E-B store.

The 122,000-square-foot store introduces shoppers to features and departments that are firsts for the company, said Julie Bedingfield, public affairs manager for H-E-B. “With an enhanced in-store experience and commitment to top-quality service and selection, this new store is tailored to serve the needs of this growing community and provide our customers with the best we have to offer,” Bedingfield said.

New features include a two-story True Texas BBQ, H-E-B’s lauded barbecue restaurant that was named best barbecue chain in Texas by Texas Monthly and a top barbecue chain in the nation by Thrillist. The restaurant has indoor seating on both levels.

And the store is H-E-B’s first to introduce Home by H-E-B, a department offering two brands — Haven + Key and Texas Proud — with hundreds of items that include timeless home textiles, inspiring decor, and versatile furniture and accent pieces, H-E-B said in a statement.

H-E-B said it will add Home by H-E-B departments to a number of existing stores this year.

Under the Haven + Key line, customers can find on-trend seasonal items including candles, mirrors, toss pillows, kitchen textiles, rugs, throw blankets and accent furniture.

The Texas Proud brand celebrates Texas style and features items made by Texas-based artisans and businesses such as wood-and-antler art from Broken Antler in Converse, Texas, leather goods from San Antonio-based Lucio Tailoring Co., cowhide benches from Texas Bench Worx in Luling, Texas, and hand-poured candles from Rustic Swank in New Braunfels.

New Braunfels, a suburb of San Antonio, was the third-fastest-growing city in the United States between 2010 and 2020, according to Wikipedia.
