SAN FRANCISCO — Instacart is expanding its AI-powered grocery capabilities to Muse, Meta’s new AI product, giving users another way to build personalized grocery carts using conversational prompts.
Muse will connect to Instacart’s grocery infrastructure via the company’s connector program, which extends its shopping capabilities to third-party AI platforms. Instacart already offers integrations with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and AI Mode in Google Search.
The company said the Muse integration is part of a broader strategy to make its grocery technology available wherever consumers start planning or shopping. Users can turn requests, such as meal ideas or ingredient lists, into personalized carts based on products available at participating retailers.
Instacart’s AI grocery ecosystem also includes Clementine, its shopping assistant available on the Instacart Marketplace, and Cart Assistant, which brings its technology directly to retailers’ websites and apps. Cart Assistant can be customized to a retailer’s catalog, customer data, loyalty program, and brand experience.

The company said its technology processes 10 million daily inventory signals across nearly 100,000 stores. Its catalog includes more than 2 billion product instances, with data from 1.6 billion lifetime orders across more than 2,200 retail banners.
Instacart said those capabilities enable its AI systems to translate open-ended requests, such as planning a meal for a family, into ready-to-buy carts while considering product availability, promotions and customer preferences.
The Muse integration reflects Instacart’s push to extend its grocery infrastructure beyond its own marketplace, as consumers increasingly use AI assistants for product discovery and shopping. The company said that expanding across AI platforms could also help bring more consumers into online grocery shopping.
