Kroger Co. promoted Scot Hendricks to president of its Delta division, effective October 1.
Hendricks and his wife, Jill, relocated to Memphis, where the division is headquartered, Kroger said. The division operates stores in western Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas and Mississippi.
Hendricks, 57, had been serving as vice president of operations since last year. He joined Kroger in 1981 in a management training program at the company’s Nashville division.
In his new role, Hendricks succeeded Tim Brown, who recently was named president of Kroger’s Cincinnati/Dayton division.
"Scot is a strong leader with extensive experience in both merchandising and operations," remarked Fred Morganthall, Kroger’s executive vice president of retail operations. "Scot lives our values and brings out the best in our associates. We look forward to his leadership of our Delta division."
Kroger, one of the world’s largest retailers, has increased its share of the U.S. grocery market in each of the past 10 years. Last year, it gained market share in 18 of 20 markets tracked by research firm Nielsen, including in all 15 markets in which Walmart also competes. The company operates 2,623 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 34 states and the District of Columbia.
