LOS ANGELES — Leslie Hernandez has been promoted to chief financial officer at Markwins International.

Leslie Hernandez has been promoted to chief financial officer at Markwins International.

Markwins said Monday that as CFO, Hernandez assumes a newly created senior leadership role at the beauty care company, reporting directly to Eric Chen, chairman and chief executive officer. She has served as senior vice president of finance for the past three years.

With the appointment, Hernandez will continue to be responsible for the management of complex business transactions and strategic initiatives, including direct communications with the board of directors, audit committee, nomination corporate governance and compensation committees, and the reporting of financial results.

Previously, Hernandez served for eight years in a similar role at Physicians Formula, where she also spent a year as corporate secretary on the board of directors. That role was resolved when Physicians Formula was acquired by Markwins in December 2012.

“We are pleased that Leslie has agreed to assume the role of CFO. She has done an incredible job as the senior vice president of finance for Physicians Formula and her strong leadership, strategic and financial skills make her an ideal CFO for Markwins,” Chen stated. “Since joining Markwins, Leslie has directly contributed to countless brand successes for our company, and we are excited to have her take on this new challenge.”

Before joining Physicians Formula, Hernandez worked for Deloitte & Touche LLP, where she became a certified public accountant.

“Markwins International is a dynamic organization, and I am honored to be given this opportunity to work with our talented senior management team as we build upon the company’s financial successes,” Hernandez commented.

Markwins’ roster of cosmetics brands includes wet n wild, Physicians Formula, Bonne Bell, Lip Smacker, The Color Workshop, The Color Institute, Black Radiance and POP, as well as a range of internal brands and licensing deals. Markwins products are sold in more than 50,000 retail outlets including department, specialty, mass, drug and food stores, and are available in more than 60 countries.
