GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer is supporting relief and recovery efforts across Eastern Michigan following the recent Oakland County water main break, providing essential supplies and water donations to impacted communities as boil water advisories remain in place in parts of the region.
The retailer said it moved quickly in the days following the emergency to keep stores stocked with key essentials, including bottled water, prepared foods and sanitizer, while ensuring affected locations remained operational and ready to serve customers.
To address increased demand, Meijer coordinated rush shipments of multipack water, paper products, disposable cups and silverware, hand sanitizer and prepackaged fresh foods to impacted stores throughout the area.
The company also donated multiple truckloads of water to community distribution sites in Lake Orion, Orion Township, Auburn Hills and Rochester Hills, while supporting local outreach efforts through additional donations to United Way of Southeastern Michigan and Avondale Schools.
According to Meijer, public officials have restored water service in the affected region, though boil water advisories remain active for two stores and are expected to continue through the weekend. Water distribution stations will stay open until officials confirm the water is safe to drink.
In total, Meijer donated six truckloads of water, representing approximately 224,000 bottles, as part of the relief effort.
“Meijer is grateful for the resilience, dedication and compassion the community has shown throughout the recovery process,” the company said. “We remain committed to providing meaningful support and resources as Eastern Michigan continues to recover.”
