MINNEAPOLIS — Nash Finch has named onetime CVS Caremark Corp. executive Christopher Bodine to its board of directors.

Nash Finch has named onetime CVS Caremark Corp. executive Christopher Bodine to its board of directors.

The food and drug store distributor said Monday that Bodine will become a director on its board effective April 28.

Bodine, 55, retired from CVS Caremark in January 2009 after a 24-year career at the retail pharmacy and pharmacy benefit management company, according to Nash Finch. Most recently, he served as president of health care services at CVS Caremark. In that role, he was responsible for strategy, business development, trade relations, sales and account management, pharmacy merchandising, marketing, information technology and MinuteClinic.

"The perspective and experience Chris brings to Nash Finch is a strong complement to the talent and expertise of our current board," Alec Covington, president and chief executive officer of Nash Finch, said in a statement. "His consumer retail focus will be quite helpful as we work to assist our customers in their efforts to enhance their competitive position.”

Nash Finch noted that its board now includes eight members, seven of whom are independent.

"We are pleased to welcome Chris to the Nash Finch board of directors," commented Nash Finch chairman William Voss. "Chris’ wealth of knowledge of the consumer retail sector and his focus on strategy and business development will be invaluable to the board in overseeing the company’s navigation of the changing marketplace."

In addition to its wholesale food business, Nash Finch owns and operates a base of retail stores, primarily supermarkets under the Econofoods, Family Thrift Center, AVANZA, Family Fresh Market and Sun Mart banners.
