LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix Super Markets Inc. is closing all Little Clinic health clinics in its stores.

Publix Super Markets Inc. is closing all Little Clinic health clinics in its stores.

The Southeast supermarket chain said on its website that it’s terminating the leases with the 40 retail clinics in Florida and Georgia that operated in its stores under the name The Little Clinic.

Publix had previously entered into an arrangement with The Little Clinic in which it leased space in some of its grocery stores to The Little Clinic for the operation of health clinics.

Kroger Co. acquired The Little Clinic last year from Solera Capital and now operates 78 clinics in its Kroger, Fry’s and King Soopers supermarkets in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arizona and Colorado. The Little Clinic locations in Publix stores still continued to operate under that banner.

According to Publix, 31 of the Little Clinics in its stores closed as of last week. Closing dates for the remaining nine clinics are still being determined, the retailer said on its website.
