SAN DIEGO — The online specialty retailer Soap.com has agreed to sell Evofem’s Instead Softcup, an alternative to tampons or sanitary pads.
The online specialty retailer Soap.com has agreed to sell Evofem’s Instead Softcup, an alternative to tampons or sanitary pads.
"With this agreement, more women will have access to Softcup and all the benefits associated with its body-friendly, long-wear design," said Evofem executive vice president Daniel Pike. "Soap.com will allow anyone who loves our product – and those curious to try it – to purchase it at any time, and get it conveniently delivered to their door."
Evofem contends that while menstrual cups represent a small part of the feminine hygiene market, it is a product segment poised for growth. Made of soft, flexible plastic, the company’s Instead Softcup is worn around the cervix to collect, rather than absorb, menstrual fluid. Women can wear Softcup for up to 12 hours, which means that the product provides longer-lasting protection than traditional feminine hygiene products.
Evofem said the product can be worn during any physical activity, including sports and intercourse. It does not contain dioxins, is made of a non-absorbent material not linked with toxic shock syndrome, and does not change the body’s natural pH levels.
