BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Walmart announced it is leveraging its supply chain and retail footprint to offer holiday shoppers new deals on popular gifts and extend shipping cutoffs that can provide up to 48 extra hours to buy items for Christmas Day delivery.
“We’re ensuring customers can count on Walmart having the items they want, when they want them, no matter when they choose to shop this holiday season,” said David Guggina, executive vice president of supply chain operations, Walmart U.S.
Walmart said it is giving its customers two more shopping days to buy gifts for delivery by Christmas Day. Those who order by 12:30 p.m. local time on December 23 can expect the items to be delivered by Christmas.
Shoppers who place an Express Delivery order by 4 p.m. local time on Christmas Eve can expect delivery from stores to doorsteps in as few as 30 minutes, the retailer said. The retailer also said Walmart+ members are eligible for one free Express Delivery through Dec. 31.
Shoppers who order online by noon local time on December 24 are eligible for in-store same-day pickup and delivery services, Walmart said.
“Whatever the choice, we’ve got it covered with expanded timeslots and more gifts than ever available for pickup and delivery,” the company said in announcing the new promotion.
Walmart cited ongoing investments in data, intelligent software and automation in the development of the fulfillment strategy that makes these promotions possible. More than half of Walmart’s fulfillment center volume is now automated, up double from this time last year, offering access to next or two-day shipping on an even broader assortment of items.
“We're proud of the progress we've made this year in our supply chain transformation,” Guggina said. “We’re ensuring customers can count on Walmart having the items they want, when they want them, no matter when they choose to shop this holiday season.”
