Walmart has tapped Duncan Mac Naughton to serve as chief merchandising officer for U.S. stores.

Mac Naughton joined the company in 2009 as chief merchandising officer for Walmart Canada. He most recently served as executive vice president of merchandising for Walmart U.S., a post he has held since October 2010.

In his new post Mac Naughton will be responsible for all merchandise categories at Walmart’s more than 3,700 domestic stores. He continues to report to Walmart U.S. president and chief executive officer Bill Simon.

"He is a strong steward of our culture, and he understands that merchandising is at the very core of our business," Simon says.
