BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart this month made management changes at its U.S. stores division and other moves aimed at streamlining the division’s leadership.

Walmart this month made management changes at its U.S. stores division and other moves aimed at streamlining the division’s leadership.

Mike Moore assumes responsibility for Walmart’s domestic Supercenters as executive vice president of that business. Moore had been overseeing Walmart’s smaller-format Neighborhood Markets. Julie Murphy assumes oversight of the Neighborhood Markets. Previously she had been executive vice president of the Walmart West division.

"Mike and Julie are outstanding leaders whose long-term experience within Walmart operations has equipped them to take on these expanded roles," Walmart U.S. president and chief executive officer Greg Foran and chief operating officer Judith McKenna told Walmart employees in a May 1 email.

No successor to Murphy will be named at Walmart’s western division. Likewise, no one will replace the retiring Joaquin Gonzalez Varela as executive vice president at Walmart’s eastern division. Instead, U.S. stores will report to McKenna.

Also leaving Walmart is Pam Kohn, executive vice president of Walmart Realty. JP Suarez succeeds Kohn as head of the division overseeing some 4,500 stores with a combined 1 billion square feet of retail space. Additionally, Walmart renamed the Innovations team in charge of store improvements. Mark Ibbotson has been named senior vice president of Central Operations, as the team is now called.
