SAN FRANCISCO – Uber announced it will pick up customer returns for purchases made on Uber Eats. The initiative, announced last week, permits return of items from retailers including Best Buy, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Petco.
"A first for the on-demand delivery industry, customers will now be able to send back eligible retail items purchased on Uber Eats and receive an instant refund – just request a return in the Uber Eats app and a courier will come pick it up for a fee," Uber said in its announcement.
Consumers can go to their order history on the Uber Eats app and select the “return an item” option, identify the item they want to return and enter an explanation for the request. As long as the item is eligible and fits the retailer's return policy, consumers then tap "return with a courier" to finish the process, according to the company.
“Returns are one of the biggest pain points in retail, and we’re reimagining them the way only Uber can,” Rohan Mathew, Uber Eats’ engineering lead, said in a statement. “Now, with just a tap, you can send an item back and get a refund without ever leaving home.”
